Guitar.voice.drums duet formed from a fractured cell turning into two, then four, then eight, then sixteen isolated, but oddly still connected, world-fragments.
eightycuts, an organ made of metal and textures, unfurls sonic rivers and drawn-out trancelike concerts, as punk as vulnerable, through progressive and feverish compositions loaded with dark psychedelia that blends abrasive softness, urgency and soaring dynamics.
During the live performances, the cineast Philomène de Broqua joins with 16mm projections : a dialogue unfolds as both mediums weave in and out of one another, the metronome beat of the two projectors and the pulsation of the duo. Sounds merge with rhythmic 16mm projections, disintegrating cells, ephemeral loops, figurative images, chemigrams, paintings and real time interventions on the film roll. On stage, the duo soak in this hypnotic stream of images –– at times disrupted and distorted by flashes of burned reel –– while sympathetic resonances of sound and vision undulate along the metallic swells of a guitar-organ, nervous drums burst and ethereal vocals.
July 2022 marks the release of their Cat Love cassette on Paris label Vorota, home-label from the Tony Collectif : it features cut-ups of improvisations, rehearsals and live excerpts recorded through a phone. The band is currently finishing its first album.
