Beats & Beyond is an underground electronic music radio show curated and hosted by Jedsa Soundorom. Episode #019 is a tribute to Michel Baumann — Soulphiction, also known as Jackmate — who passed away in 2021 at the age of fifty-two.

Born in Stuttgart, he started out in 1989 as a hip-hop DJ, and he was working in a record store in the early nineties when he discovered Chicago and Detroit house. He never left the first thing behind: the swing, the dust on the drums, the way his loops breathe rather than repeat — that's a hip-hop ear making house music
